A bookcase is mostly air and edges. It is the corners that arrive damaged, and a chipped edge on a storage unit shows for the rest of its life. So every Calaris Library order is crated with edge protection at our Jaipur unit before it moves. This page explains when it leaves, how long the journey takes and what it costs.

Cut-off and crating

Orders confirmed before 3:00 PM IST on a working day join that day’s queue. Because each unit is checked for panel warp and hardware count before it is crated, dispatch takes 1 to 3 business days, Monday to Saturday. Sundays and public holidays are not working days.

Panels travel face-to-face with foam between them, every corner gets a hard protector, and the fittings ride in a labelled bag inside the crate rather than loose where they can score a surface.

Freight time to your door

Once collected, transit runs 5 to 12 business days. Metro destinations usually arrive in 5 to 8 business days; the rest of India runs 7 to 12 business days, because a flat-packed crate changes hubs more often than a parcel. From order to doorstep, plan for 6 to 15 business days.

The freight desk calls to agree a delivery slot before the vehicle sets out. Keep the number you gave at checkout reachable — a missed call is the most common reason a delivery slips a day.

Shipping charges

Free shipping on orders of ₹5,999 and above; a flat ₹249 applies below that. The figure is calculated on your cart total and displayed at checkout before you confirm, so nothing is left to settle with the crew.

  • Orders of ₹5,999 and above: delivered free anywhere we serve in India.
  • Orders below ₹5,999: a flat ₹249 per order, whatever the crate weighs.

Carriers and tracking

Crates move with Delhivery Heavy and VRL, chosen by which network reaches your PIN code with fewer transfers. A consignment number is sent by email and SMS as soon as the crate is scanned in; tracking can take a few hours to go live on the carrier’s own page, which is normal.

Inspect before you sign

Storage furniture is signed for after inspection, never before. When the crate arrives:

  • Start a video before the strapping is cut and keep filming until the panels are out.
  • Check every visible edge and corner, the panel faces, and the fittings bag against the invoice.
  • Only then sign. If an edge is chipped or a panel is bowed, note it on the delivery sheet before signing.

Delivery is to your doorstep or building entrance. The crew are not insured to carry crates up narrow staircases or to assemble anything, so please measure your lift and stairwell before ordering.

Assembly

Units arrive flat-packed with the fittings, an Allen key and a printed sheet in the crate. Two people and about an hour is the usual job for a bookcase. We do not offer a paid assembly service, and we would rather say so than promise a fitter who does not exist.

Cash on Delivery and prepaid

Pay by UPI in advance, or choose Cash on Delivery and settle with the freight crew. Cash on Delivery is not available on every PIN code for high-value crates; where it is unavailable the option will not appear at checkout.
